Custom Signs: Keep Your Pool Safe this Summer

by Mary Mills on June 25, 2013

Custom signs can really make a difference around your swimming pool this summer. It’s that time of year again, the weather is heating up and we’re all dreaming of diving into a cool swimming pool after a long, hot day. That also means that you’ve got to make sure that your pool rules are displayed clearly for the safe use of the swimming pool.

It really doesn’t matter whether you are in charge of a public swimming pool or are lucky enough to have your own swimming pool at home – custom signs around the pool really can save lives.

Swimming pools are great fun but they are also dangerous and high risk. Any public place which has a swimming pool to be used by visitors and guests are legally obliged to clearly display the pool rules on custom signs in prominent positions.

Some custom signs keep it short, sweet, plain, and simple with the most common rules being:

  • No diving (especially important for shallow pools)

  • No glass (extremely dangerous if it gets broken around the pool area where people are walking barefoot)

  • No food (to clog up the filters)

  • No running  (slippery when wet)

  • No alcohol  (a dangerous combination)

And another one which may help your swimmers to think twice:

  • No lifeguard on duty

Other custom signs may pertain more to the games in the pool. For instance:

     Slide rules:

  • Don’t try to stop when you are on the slide

  • Do not dive from a flume

  • Slide only in a sitting position or on your back

  • One at a time, please

Custom SignsSome of these signs may seem to be a little obvious, but the number of people who die or are injured in swimming pools each year is nothing short of staggering.  Swimming pools can be a very dangerous place, especially for younger children.  Providing rules and guidelines for swimming pool guests can help ensure safety and possibly save lives.

Keeping your swimming pool safe may take nothing more than a little common sense and a few well designed and well placed custom signs.

Other great rules to display around the swimming pool may be:

  • Do not swallow the swimming pool water

  • Do take a shower before entering the swimming pool

  • Take your children for frequent bathroom breaks – please

Swimming is a terrific summer activity and fun for all the family ,and a few well written custom signs can ensure that everybody has a splashing good time.

Great advice for keeping your family safe around water this summer… Another tip I would suggest is to keep toys out of the pool area, so that young children aren’t drawn towards it. Thanks for sharing Lindsay!
