Different Kinds of Golf Tournament Signs

by Joel Hall on March 5, 2013

When you’re organizing a golf tournament, remember that there are two different kinds of golf tournament signs you need to get: directional and sponsorship.

A teardrop banner like this can be used as a hole sponsor sign at a golf tournament.Directional signs are basically informational signs. But they’re more than just arrows pointing people in one direction or another (they’re also called way-finding signs). People look for these signs to figure out the who, what, when, where, why, and how of a golf tournament. Directional signs give attendees important information, such as where to register, where to leave your bags, when lunch is, how to get on the raffle, and where to find the restrooms. Even the sign that says “Registration Table” is a directional sign, because it basically says “Here is the registration table.”

Sponsorship signage is the second type of golf tournament signs. While directional signage helps attendees find their way, sponsorship signage tells people who’s helping to organize and support the event. Sponsorship signage is a way for companies to show their support for a cause, while getting some additional advertising benefits at the same time. Some sponsors want their sponsorship to be obvious, and so will become the largest, or one of the largest, sponsors of the event. Others are fine with just a quick little mention, a logo on the program or shirt, or even some of the swag and promotional items given away.

Yes, even golf carts are getting the sponsorship treatment, with signs on the back of a cart, or the entire cart being covered with vehicle graphics. A large sponsor can even use this as a chance to promote themselves by wrapping one or all of the golf carts in their logo and corporate colors. A large and colorful golf cart will certainly garner a second look.

When organizing a golf tournament, there are a number of different signs that you’ll need, so make a careful list and check with your local SIGNARAMA store owner for the kinds of signs they’ve done in the past. Together, you will be able to come up with a comprehensive list of every kind of golf tournament sign you’ll need.
