Franchisee Spotlight: Signarama Redding

While Signarama Redding in California had been around for a few years, it really came into its own in 2005 when owner John Robbins and his wife Ashly purchased the franchise for the next stage in their professional lives.

John says of his purchase that “the stars aligned and the time was right to buy.” The economy was on the upswing, and both consumers and businesses were spending money. John saw the For Sale ad in the paper, and decided this would be a good investment. He said he had been looking through newspapers for something to do, other than measuring engineering attachments for fiber optics on telecommunications utility poles.

Signarama Redding StorefrontJohn said, “I wasn’t sure if I should get another job or go into business for myself and somehow came across this ad in the ‘Want Ads’ section of the paper. For some reason, it struck a chord.”

John said he didn’t have any sign experience prior to purchasing the business, but took a chance and rolled the dice. Nearly 10 years later, they’re still there, and have never looked back. John and Ashly run the business together, just like many other Signarama franchisees. John takes care of the day to day operations, and Ashly handles the production side.

Signarama Redding has decided to really narrow their focus to vehicle wraps and digital printing. John says that’s where the latest technology is, and that is where they want to be.

Signarama Redding covers the whole area two hours from the Oregon border to two hours north of Sacramento. However, the largest group of clients fall within the city of Redding, a city of about 150,000 people.
