How Often Should You Update Your Popup Banners?

by Alicia Peregory on February 2, 2016

Popup banners are an effective marketing display. They’re bright and colorful, and the pack up to a very small size for easy transport and storage. But if they start to look to worn and broken down, people will focus more on their condition than the message you’re trying to convey.

So when should you update and replace your popup banners? Here are a few suggestions for when you need to consider replacing Ol’ Trusty with a new popup display.Popup Banners from SAR Singapore

1. When they look frayed or faded

This shouldn’t happen if they’re being stored when not in use, but if you keep your popup banners out for long periods of time, especially in the direct sunlight, you’ll need to do this every few years. The colors will fade, even indoors, if they’re in the direct sunlight for a few hours at a time.

Fabric banners can begin to fray on the sides, especially if you’re pulling out and putting away your banners fairly frequently. Pay attention to fraying threads on the edges, and snip off any loose ones you find. They could get caught and a snag will only hasten the end.

2. When the images look dated

If you have images of people in “modern” fashion, those images may look dated sooner than you think. Think back to the hip fashions of the 1990s and early 2000s. (Now we just sort of cringe at that fashion and hope our kids don’t see it.)

But even certain fashions and hairstyles that were hip just two years ago can now look fairly dated. If you have pictures of people on your popup banners, either avoid using images of the latest fashion, or pick something a little more classic and timeless. If you’re working with a professional photographer, choose one who has some fashion experience so they can advise you on this as well.

3. When you’re rebranding or updating your image

If you’re changing your company’s logo, corporate colors, or company name, don’t forget your popup banners. If you use these for trade show displays, it’s easy to forget when they’re in storage 11 months out of the year. But if you do any kind of rebranding, make sure all your trade show displays get their changes as soon as you make the change. That gives you plenty of time to update them and be ready for your next show.
