Signarama Ankeny Woman Empowering Communities

by Signarama on October 2, 2017

With over 30 years of involvement at the regional, state and local level in community and economic development Kathy Evert, owner of Signarama Ankeny, continues to bring her passion for small businesses growth to better service her customers.

Kathy’s previous experience as CEO of economic development organizations, has taught her what it takes for starting, building and running a business.

Behind business growth comes the need to service increasing customer demands, but Kathy’s passion for improvement strategies also extends far beyond her client base. Currently, she is a part of three local chamber of commerce groups, the state-wide chamber, two networking groups and three boards of directors. With so much involvement in the community, Kathy has been actively engaged in the growing evolution of small businesses.

This year in August, Kathy was awarded the Certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) from the National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC) and the Targeted Small Business (TSB) Designation from the state of Iowa in December. Winning these awards were part of her business plan goals this year.

“Government entities and corporations often have set goals for doing business with small businesses and woman-owned businesses and I will continue to position this company to participate in those opportunities,” she said after achieving her goal.

Her biggest piece of advice to women in the growing business industry is to always trust your instincts. After many years of coaching and advising several small business owners, Kathy found herself straying away from her own inner voice. She learned that to be a successful business woman, you have to let your confidence overpower your insecurities, because nothing holds a business woman back more than themselves.
