Signarama Camp Hill, PA : Torch Passes from One Generation to the Next

by Signarama on May 11, 2015

The Sentinel featured Signarama Camp Hill, PA in its recent article, focusing on business owner David Erby and his successor Ben Durborow:

When Ben Durborow began working at Signarama six years ago, he never imagined he’d one day own the franchise location, yet that’s exactly where things stand now.

Ben Durborow at SAR Camp Hill, PAAfter 20 years of success in the custom signing and engraving business, it was two hip replacements and a spine infusion that finally caused the previous owner, David Erby, to decide to “get out and kick back and relax.”

“I just needed someone young and energetic to go out and get the business, which I wasn’t able to get anymore,” Erby said. “The last three years have been a real struggle for me.”

After Erby made his mind up that he was retiring, he felt it was only right to offer the company to his employees before the public. That’s when Durborow stepped up. He was 25 years old when the sale closed.

If he had any fears that his co-workers wouldn’t take well to the youngest person in the company now running the show, those fears were alleviated immediately.

“Obviously we were co-workers and I worked beside them, but no one had any problems with the transitions, and it went very smooth,” Durborow said. “Everyone seems to be pleased with everything that’s going on, and ironically I’m the youngest guy here and I’m now the owner.”

Things have been running smoothly thus far for Signarama since Durborow took over. He said there has been no dip in business or customer walk-ins, and Signarama has not changed very much on the inside.
