Our flatbed printer at Signarama Nashville is a relatively new addition to our fleet of printing equipment; we invested in this printing technology nearly a year ago, and it’s opened up all sorts of avenues for us. Many Signarama stores around the world have a printer like this.
The printer uses UV ink, and allows our clients a lot of different printing options. No longer do we have to print to one material, only to have to attach it to its final resting place, like printing a piece of vinyl and laminating it to a substrate. With the flatbed printer, we can print directly onto flat materials, which reduces production time and costs.
One of our first assignments with the printer was for a local Nashville brewery, Yazoo. Yazoo built a taproom at their brewery so visitors could sample their beer. When the printer came online, we printed onto a few pieces of metal for Yazoo to add some pizzazz to the taproom.
After that project, Yazoo decided to move forward with vehicle graphics, to keep the brand in the public eye. (One of the nice things about a Signarama franchise is our versatility — we can do signs, wraps, and anything else a growing brewery might need.)
Yazoo uses this van for marketing out in the community, beer delivery runs, and general brand recognition. Just driving around makes the Yazoo van a rolling billboard and reminds people of their local beer maker.
The Signarama staff coordinated with Yazoo to create cut vinyl lettering for the van in order to make it stand out from other vans on the road. We decided on cut vinyl lettering for a couple of reasons. For one thing, it’s easy to apply (pre-cut the letters, apply the entire sheet of vinyl, peel away the excess, and the vinyl lettering remains).
Cut vinyl letters are also easier to change, compared to an entirely wrapped vehicle. If anything changes, we can easily modify the lettering. Yazoo also opted to have a stripe added to the van, which added some flair.
